Stud partitions and drylining
Metal stud partitions are lightweight walls built from steel studs and plasterboard, used to divide offices, form meeting rooms and line walls. They are usually built alongside the ceiling, so one team doing both keeps the junctions right.

How we do it
The big decision is whether a partition stops at the ceiling or goes through the void to the soffit. Stopping at the ceiling is quicker and keeps the ceiling continuous; going to the soffit gives better privacy and is required where a wall must be fire-resisting.
Deflection heads let the structure above move without cracking the partition. We build partitions to the board maker's tested systems for the acoustic or fire performance specified.
What's involved
- Metal stud partitions to tested systems
- Head to ceiling or full height to soffit
- Acoustic insulation and enhanced boards
- Fire-resisting partitions where required
- Drylining and wall linings
Best for: Office fit-outs, meeting rooms, shop back-of-house and school refurbishments.

Questions people ask
Should our meeting room walls go up to the slab?
For privacy, yes, or use a void barrier above the partition. Walls that stop at the ceiling let speech pass over the top.
Can partitions be moved later?
Stud partitions are demountable in the sense they can be taken down and rebuilt, but they are not reused. True demountable systems are a separate product.
Do you do the ceiling and the walls together?
Yes, and it is the better way to do it, because the junctions are planned once.
