Acoustic rafts and baffles
Acoustic rafts are flat sound-absorbing panels hung below an exposed ceiling; baffles are vertical blades hung in rows. Both cut echo in rooms where a full suspended ceiling is not wanted.

How we do it
Exposed concrete and services have become a popular look, but bare soffits make offices and restaurants loud. Rafts and baffles bring the reverberation down while keeping the open, industrial feel and the extra height.
Coverage and position matter more than product. We place rafts over the noisiest zones, such as desks, tables and meeting spaces, and avoid lights, sprinklers and detectors so nothing is blocked.
What's involved
- Horizontal rafts or vertical baffles
- Hung on adjustable cable kits
- Placed clear of sprinklers, detectors and lights
- Colours and edge profiles to suit the interior
- Works over open or partly open soffits
Best for: Exposed-soffit offices, restaurants, atriums, sports halls and studios.

Questions people ask
Do rafts work as well as a full ceiling?
For reducing echo, rafts covering a good share of the ceiling area can get close. They do not help with noise passing between rooms.
Can rafts go under sprinklers?
They must not block sprinkler spray patterns. We position them to keep clear, following the sprinkler designer's rules.
Can we add rafts later if it is still too noisy?
Yes. Rafts are modular, so more can be added after you have used the space.
